International Tax Compliance and Increased IRS Enforcement: New Issues Triggered by FATCA
Individuals, small businesses, and their advisors have not been terribly concerned about international tax issues in the past. However, with increased globalization and the recent passage of FATCA, things have radically changed, particularly for the "little guys." Everyone must understand and apply the new rules related to foreign accounts, foreign assets, foreign entities, etc. They also need to be aware of special procedures for IRS audits involving international issues because missteps here can be extremely costly. This presentation focuses on international tax compliance issues, as expanded by FATCA.
