The Latest in Accounting for Goodwill and Derivatives
The Private Company Council, working with the FASB, have recently proposed changes in how private companies would report derivatives, intangible assets in business combinations, and subsequently test goodwill for impairment. These changes will likely impact fair value measurements for private companies in a variety of ways. Valuation specialists, auditors and preparers should understand the impact of these changes on fair value measurements and where we go from here.
