Don Farmer's 2014 Pre-Tax Update for Individual Returns

Using a combination of humor and examples, we will review tax developments that affect 2014 individual income tax return preparation and 2014 individual income tax planning. We will also review the major areas of individual income taxation to fine tune practitioners for "Tax Season."

- A review of the various education tax benefits. 

- Highlights of divorce taxation. 

- Latest developments on Section 1031 exchanges. 

- Survey of long-term capital gains and qualified dividend income. 

- Latest updates on medical expenses, charitable contributions, home office deduction, hobby losses, home

-sale gain exclusion, and taxation of damage awards. 

- Review of selected individual tax credits. 

- Review of passive activity rules (including analysis of impact on 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax).
