Designed for financial managers responsible for advising management on the financial implications of strategic decisions, this course will provide participants with the tools to analyze the financial implications of strategic business decisions, including acquisitions, expansion plans, leveraged buyouts, and Recaps. As a foundation for this analysis, participants will develop an understanding of the earnings approach to business valuation.
Objectives:
- Learn the concepts underlying the earnings approach to business valuation.
- Learn the theory and application of the discounted and capitalized earnings methods of valuation and calculations used in this method.
- Study the various components of invested capital and sources of information available for estimating the cost of capital.
- Learn to apply valuation techniques to assess the impact of strategic decisions on the value of a business, including: growth, acquisitions, new products, capital projects, leveraged buyouts, and recapitalizations
- Learn to assess the impact of uncertainty related to investment decisions using Monte Carlo modeling techniques.
- Participants will receive copies of all models reviewed in the class which can be used as a reference or modified and used to analyze strategic alternatives.
