Data-centric security is a difficult paradigm shift from a network or firewall-centric security model because the vast majority of tools are geared to this model. Adopting a datacentric model would effectively counter many of APT attacks we have seen in the last couple years, and the shift would also be key in addressing issues and concerns resulting from the pervasive use of cloud services and personal devices in the enterprise.
